Vocational Training Courses for Young Refugees – Basics of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering / Technicians or Engineers
The MPE offers vocational training courses for refugees on a regular basis intended primarily for young students during or after completing their general school education. The courses shall provide vocational orientation and initial qualification for career planning and follow-on technical school or professional education. The courses are held in German. The participants are expected to have sufficient German language skills.
The MPE offers typically one-week to four-week courses covering a great variety of activities. The participants are acquainted with basic knowledge and skills in the areas of electrical engineering and electronics, mechanical design and metalworking. The course will enable the participants to understand and measure basic electrical quantities such as voltage, current and resistance, establish data tables, plot diagrams and carry out basic activities such as fitting and soldering of printed circuit boards, electrical wiring, designing of simple electrical circuits, mechanical CAD, metal filing, sawing, drilling, and metal bending and forming in a self-reliant manner. They have also the opportunity to observe machining operations such as milling and turning. Also a initiation into optics can be offered using light sources and lenses for optical imaging, prisms and lasers.
In our technical departments the participants are instructed and supervised by experienced and highly qualified staff of the institute. At the end of the course the participants will know whether a professional career in technical domains such as the electrical or metalworking industry will suit them. After the course a certificate will be handed over to the participants stating the technical topics covered and the goals achieved.
Strong motivation and eagerness to learn and work in the technical domains. The participants are expected to have sufficient German language skills.
