The Competence and Application Center for Acoustoelectronic Fundamentals, Technologies and Components - SAWLab Saxony - of the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research - IFW Dresden - is now offering positions for completing a master's or diploma thesis.

The project “ChAMP – Chip-based acoustofluidic medtech platform” deals with innovative approaches for the development of microfluidic technologies based on electric and acoustic phenomena, which are particularly suitable for analytical and therapeutical biotechnology, life sciences and environmental sensor applications.

As part of this project, you will explore the manipulation of microparticles and cells in high throughput microfluidic systems. Tasks include planning, preparation, realization and analysis of experiments with application-relevant demonstrators.

As a candidate (m/w/d), you study in the field of materials science, process engineering, microsystems technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, microfluidics or similar and you are interested being part of cutting-edge research team and to work with a promising lab-on-a-chip technology. First experiences in microfluidic design and experiment, 2D/3D CAD and cell handling are advantageous. The ability to work in a team is strongly required.

Über IFW Dresden e.V.

The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden – in short IFW Dresden – is a nonuniversity research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. The IFW employs approximately 600 people and one focus is on the training of young scientists besides enhancing fundamental and applied research development. At the highest international level, the IFW operates modern materials science on a scientific basis and makes the obtained results useful for the economy. The complex and interdisciplinary research work is carried out within the IFW by five scientific institutes, which are supported by a highly developed technical infrastructure. The IFW supports its employees in reconciling work and family life and regularly submits to the berufundfamilie® audit. Further information at: http://www.ifw-dresden.de
