2 Internship opportunities in Event Organisation and Implementation (Full-time)

DOX BOX e.V. is offering 2 internship opportunities from 12 March till 20 April 2018 (6 weeks).

Internship context:
From 12-14 April 2018 DOX BOX e.V. and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) will host the first-ever arab.european Documentary Convention (aDC) in Leipzig. The aDC is an annual international convening of the documentary community with a focus on documentary industries of the Arab region and Europe. aDC gathers leading documentary professionals and decision-makers from all over the world, and from the Arab region and Europe, to create a platform for dialogue, collaboration and resistance, designed to inspire creativity, foster connectivity, and ignite change. Internship will allow the interns to:
Attend the first-ever arab.european Documentary Convention, including the opportunity to be at the very centre of this event. Interns will receive a full waiver of the registration costs (120 EUR). In addition to this, for the time of the convention, DOX BOX will take over any travel and accommodation costs to and in Leipzig, as well as meals.
At the aDC, interns will have the chance to meet international experts and be involved in the discussions.
Accompany a major first-time convention event in preparation and implementation, with the chance to experience what goes into organising an international, multi-day convention.
Getting acquainted with working practices in the cultural/ documentary field and in event management in the cultural sector.
Enjoy supervision and professional exchange in a stimulating multicultural work environment with good coffee.
Interns will furthermore receive a financial compensation of 400 Euros for the entire internship period.

Who and What we are looking for:
During the time of preparation for the convention, we are looking for 2 interns to support the Events & Award Manager at the DOX BOX e.V. office in Berlin-Moabit with organising, preparing and implementing the aDC over the period of 6 weeks (see more detailed requirements below).

For both internships, applicants should be:

University student in Event Management, Film Studies, Political Science or another relevant field
OR: people who wish to start a study program or to to re-enter the labor market, and are looking for orientation
Fully available from 11 - 15 April 2018 with readiness to travel to Leipzig

Other than that, special requirements apply according to the field of work you are interested in:

Option 1/Project assistance
Some previous experience with coordination and/or communication tasks in the context of an event, conference or festival.
Excellent oral and written, and communication skills in English, advanced skills in German, Arabic skills are a plus.
Be comfortable in multi-challenging settings, with an ability to remain calm under pressure.
Enjoy taking over some responsibility, e.g. coordination of volunteers.
Be a good communicator and enjoy professional contact with people.
Computer literate, with good working knowledge of Powerpoint.
Culturally sensitive

Option 2/ Logistic implementation assistance
Some previous experience with guest coordination or similar tasks in an event, festival or conference setting.
Excellent oral and written skills in English, advanced skills in German, Arabic skills are a plus.
Computer literate, with good working knowledge of Excel.
Enjoy details and accuracy.
Be a good communicator and enjoy professional contact in writing, on the phone, and verbally.
Culturally sensitive.
Comfortable behind the desk and on the ground.

Option 1: Project assistance
Supporting project manager with coordination and implementation tasks before and during the convention.
Soliciting offers and communicating with event service providers.
Communicating with panelists, presenters and moderators.
Supporting the communication efforts (social media, website) and dissemination of information.
Volunteer coordination and recruitment.

Option 2: Logistic implementation assistance
aDC participant coordination, including running the invitation and registration process for adC participants and contributors, in English and, if possible, in Arabic.
Travel planning for delegates and speakers, including preparation of individual schedules, welcome packs, and being the contact person during aDC.
Maintain overview and accurate schedule of all travel and hotel details.
On-the ground logistical coordination with volunteers.
