Working Student (m/f) Engineering Support

We shape the hotel room of the future!

SuitePad is a Berlin-based SaaS company focused on hotel tech. We deliver hotels’ aggregated content, entertainment and services through in-room tablets, web, and set-top-boxes. The depth and quality of our services have made us the market leader for in-room guest communication.

For our international and agile team of three Full Stack Developers, two Android Developers, a Head of Engineering and a Product Manager, we’re looking for a working student (m/f) who can support us to the fullest extent of his or her technical abilities, and do his or her best to grow those capabilities. Eagerness to learn is a prerequisite for the job and a great deal of your success will depend on your passion and openness to learn and grow.

Your Role:

Assistance diagnosing technical issues with our tablets - configuration problems vs new bugs
A few times per month, manually testing new features
Setting up specialized raspberry pis, oDroids, tablets or other devices
Updating small bits of backend/frontend code
Basic content manipulation
Occasional data entry
Office Administration tasks

We Offer:

An innovative product with global traction and more Android devices than you’ll know what to do with
You collaborate and learn from a team of talented engineers
A modern office right in the heart of Berlin and an environment where your ideas are welcomed
A competitive salary and the prospect of a long term collaboration
We have free drinks, fresh fruits and regular team events but more importantly: we are an international team that is fun to work with :-) - the emoticon proves it.

Our Stack:

Our tech team has built a robust service oriented architecture that powers over 25,000 devices - tablets, set-top-boxes, large format digital touch screens, signage and even a touch projector, courtesy of a special partnership with Sony’s Xperia Touch Team. We’re primarily an Android/Ruby/Ember.js shop with some services in node.js. We’re building new backend services in Elixir and plan to stick with Ember.js for our frontend Apps.

DevOps: We’re running our infrastructure on AWS, currently in dockerized EC2 instances with a home rolled orchestration system, but migrating to Fargate. Most of our services are backed by PostgreSQL, with some redis and NoSQL sprinkled in where it makes sense. Finally, we use AMQP as a message bus to tie server communications together.
