Your Responsibilities

Are you seeking an internship combined with a thesis opportunity?

The R&D department of the decarbonization unit is at the forefront of reducing energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. With the ambitious goal of achieving GHG neutrality by 2050, the department leads pioneering efforts in sus-tainability within the marine industry. The team showcases innovative technolo-gies through lighthouse projects on board the fleet, setting benchmarks for the industry.

The R&D department proposes a thesis evaluating the:

Technoeconomic potential of green power generation by running auxiliary boilers on innovative and waste stream residual fuels


Your Profile

  • Master's program in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Energy Systems, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainable Maritime Operations
  • Ability to conduct technoeconomic assessments, system modeling, and qualitative interviews (e.g., ship crew, suppliers)
  • Fundamentals of steam systems, auxiliary boilers, and marine propulsion
  • Understanding of alternative fuels (e.g., biofuels, synthetic fuels, waste-derived fuels)
  • Familiarity with waste heat recovery systems and energy integration
  • Proficiency in simulation tools
  • Ability to use CAD tools for layout and arrangement analysis
  • Data analysis using Excel, Python, or equivalent
  • Topic must be approved by your academic supervisor and align with your universitys research guidelines
