About Us

We are Pilzling, Cologne’s first urban mushroom farm. Our mission is to create sustainable food systems by combining biology, engineering, and circular economy principles. As part of our young and motivated team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation, processing, and sustainable production workflows.

What to Expect

As a Production Intern, you will support our daily operations and contribute to the smooth running of our mushroom production. Depending on your skills and interests, you may also assist in research-related or event activities. Your tasks include:

• Starting in February 2026
• Participating in mushroom cultivation processes, including harvesting, drying, and preparation for further processing.
• Assisting with data collection and documentation (e.g., weighing, recording yields, monitoring growth parameters).
• Maintaining clean and sterile working conditions to avoid contamination.
• Supporting lab activities, such as sample preparation and analytical tasks, if suitable.
• Helping with social media and communication by preparing short updates or visuals about ongoing work.
• Assisting with events and community activities on the farm.
• Contributing to general day-to-day tasks within our production environment

Requirements     

• Student or recent graduate in biology, environmental sciences, agriculture, food technology, or a related field.
• Reliable, careful, and motivated to work in a production and lab environment.
• Hands-on attitude, team spirit, and enthusiasm for sustainable food systems.
• Fluent in English
• Minimum availability of internship period of 8 weeks (preferably longer).
