Process Engineering Intern / Working Student (m/f/x) I Climate Tech Startup

As a Process Engineering Intern / Working Student at tozero, you will play a key role in the development, optimization, and implementation of battery recycling processes. From researching mechanical components to working with process diagrams and supporting plant activities, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECTWhat You’ll Do
Assist in process plant design by researching and gathering data on mechanical equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, and valves.
Learn and contribute to the development of process models and simulations using appropriate engineering software.
Work with Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to understand system layouts and identify potential improvements.
Assist in equipment selection and specification under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring compatibility with process requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to support ongoing projects.
Participate in troubleshooting sessions for existing process systems and document findings and recommendations.
Gain exposure to technical procurement processes, supporting the documentation of procurement requirements for engineering components.
Qualification: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principles.
Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS) is a plus.
Knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for plant or mechanical design is a plus.
Nice to have: basic understanding of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) with software like OpenFoam, STARCCM+ or Fluent.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in English is required, both written and spoken.
