About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Consultant Intern to support our financial operations, especially in areas related to startup and small business tax compliance. You will gain valuable, real-world experience working with international clients, invoice and tax systems, and digital tools, especially through our product Invoice AI.

This internship is ideal for someone studying or recently graduated in Finance, Taxation, Accounting, or Business Administration, and who wants to understand how to manage and optimize tax workflows in a digital, remote-first business environment.

Responsibilities

Support the preparation of tax declarations and VAT reporting for startups and small businesses

• Review financial documentation and help organize expenses, revenues, and receipts
• Assist in researching tax rules applicable to freelancers, companies, and tech startups in Germany and the EU
• Prepare summaries and client-facing documents on tax obligations, due dates, and compliance
• Support internal financial processes including invoice validation, cost categorization, and tool-based automation
• Work closely with the development team to improve tax logic within the Invoice AI platform

Qualifikation

Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Taxation, Finance, Accounting, or related fields

• Basic knowledge of German tax regulations and accounting principles (international experience is a plus)
• Comfortable working with Excel or digital accounting tools (DATEV, Lexoffice, etc. is a bonus)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Fluent in English (C1); German is an asset
• Responsible, discreet, and eager to learn
