The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Internship - Advanced Battery System Modeling and Algorithm Development (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Assist in the development, testing, and validation of battery algorithms with a focus on state estimation (SoC/SoH), aging behavior, and performance diagnostics.
- Support the modeling of battery behavior using Equivalent Circuit Models (ECMs) and data-driven or physics-informed approaches.
- Preprocess, analyze, and visualize experimental and field datasets, ensuring high-quality input for model development.
- Develop and implement machine learning or statistical models for SoC/SoH estimation, degradation prediction, and anomaly detection.
- Help simulate, benchmark, and validate algorithms in Python or comparable environments.
- Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing methods, results, and insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
Your areas of expertise
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Systems, Battery Technology, Data Science, or a related field
- Basic understanding of battery systems, energy storage technologies, or electrochemical principles
- Strong interest in battery modeling, state estimation (SoC/SoH), and degradation mechanisms, prior experience through coursework, projects, or thesis work is a plus
- Hands-on experience with Python or R for scientific computing and data analytics
- Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn data analysis methods
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
- Fluent in written and spoken English
