Intern Climate Advisory and Analytics (m/f/d)*
The "Strategy & Innovation" division of Munich Reinsurance (Munich Re) is responsible for MR's group strategy, Global Sales and Distribution and for Climate Advisory and Analytics. The Climate Advisory and Analytics department is the internal Center of Competence on all topics around natural hazards and climate change. We advise internal stakeholders with data, expertise and business knowledge and support Munich Re's opinion leadership on natural catastrophes and climate change. Your assignment will ideally start in July 2026 for ideally 4 months.
Your Job
- Support with analyzing data on natural disasters and their impact on insurance.
- Review and interpret current scientific literature on climate change to assess its influence on extreme weather events; familiarity with evaluating IPCC reports is a plus.
- Assess ongoing developments in climate policy.
- Participate in projects aimed at developing innovative solutions for climate change, resilience and risk management.
- Support with creating reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in interdisciplinary workshops and meetings to foster strategic and innovative initiatives.
Your Profile
- Currently enrolled in a master's program with a strong academic background in physics, geosciences, environmental sciences, meteorology, statistics, or sustainability finance.
- Demonstrates a keen intellectual curiosity in climate change and climate science; completion of coursework in climate change fundamentals or related subjects is advantageous.
- Exhibits proactivity, a strong willingness to learn quickly, and possesses analytical and abstract thinking skills; adaptable to working in a hybrid environment within a diverse team.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, with mandatory expertise in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with PowerBI and programming skills (e.g. Python) are a plus.
- Fluency in English is required; good command of German is a strong advantage.
- Possesses meticulous work habits, strong numerical skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work independently.
Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
