Internship - Communication & Artist Relations - Studio Apelbaum, Berlin
Studio Apelbaum (in collaboration with Analogdream e.V.), based between Berlin Prenzlauer Berg and Lichtenberg, develops a practice at the intersection of oil painting, technology, and immersive environments.
At the core of the studio are cognitive paintings — layered oil works that reveal hidden images through light, movement, and interaction, using custom-built LED systems and software.
The studio operates as both a production space and a collaborative environment, bringing together painters, engineers, performers, and communicators.
This internship is focused on the development of communication, network-building, and visibility in the lead-up to the exhibition:
I Want You to Love Me More
Berlin Art Week 2026
Phase 1 — Studio Immersion (First Month)
- Assist with LED soldering and panel assembly
- Observe and support the construction of cognitive paintings
- Participate in daily studio workflows
This phase allows you to understand how the artworks are built, in order to communicate them accurately.
Phase 2 — Communication & Growth
Instagram & Visibility
- Develop and execute a content strategy
- Grow the Instagram account (target: 10k → 20k)
- Create and publish posts, reels, and stories
- Engage with artists, galleries, and institutions
Networking & Outreach
- Identify relevant galleries, painters, and curators
- Initiate contact (primarily via Instagram)
- Build ongoing relationships over time
Artist Coordination
- Communicate with invited artists (approx. 10 participants)
- Coordinate artwork logistics (delivery, pickup, placement)
- Ensure smooth communication before and during the exhibition
Exhibition Preparation
- Support communication and organization for the show
- Assist during installation and Berlin Art Week
We are looking for people who create.
This does not only mean visual artists. We welcome:
- Artists
- Engineers and builders
- Communication profiles and strategists
- Event producers or curatorial profiles
- Hybrid practices
For us, an artist is someone who develops ideas and projects beyond standardized or purely commercial frameworks.
You should:
- Be developing your own project (artistic, technical, or conceptual)
- Be curious, proactive, and able to work independently
- Have strong communication and writing skills
- Be comfortable using Instagram as a professional tool
- Be organized and consistent
Motivation is more important than experience.

This is a 6-month, part-time unpaid internship.
You are expected to:
- Have work on the side to support yourself

We are not only looking for short-term interns, but for long-term collaborators who can grow within and alongside the studio.

AnalogDream is a queer artist studio that emerged nearly two decades into the 21st century out of the increasingly technological and less and less fixed, binary world that we as a society are constantly creating for ourselves. We work at the intersection of contemporary art, performing art, music and rave, focusing our diverse skills and knowledge on exploring how each can amplify the capabilities of the other. AnalogDream brings together painters, programmers, dancers, engineers, audio artists and filmmakers to ask a myriad of urgent questions: how do we connect with each other and break gender and social boders, how do we create safe and intimate space for queer and non queer people form old and young - both through the artworks we produce and the means by which we produce them.
